ORION - Global Radiation Collaboration Initiative

Interest in global health is growing across institutions around the world. Granted the number of ongoing country-based, regional, and global initiatives in Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging, it is challenging for organizations/individuals to know who else is engaged in similar work or in the same geographical region of interest. Currently no single database collates all such initiatives and provides an up-to-date list of engagements in any region or institution around the world. This database through IAEA aims to be the first such repository of global activities.

The database will be accessible to all users who register and list international activities in which they or their institutions are involved. Information entry will entail a few simple survey questions and should take no more than 2 minutes for a particular project. Such information could be queried thereafter to generate reports by region, type of activity, and other parameters. For demonstration purposes, current information in this database demonstrates ongoing IAEA activities globally.

We encourage and urge all institutions, non-state actors/NGOs, individuals, professional societies, and any organization involved in a global initiative to register and provide information on their projects. Sharing this information through such a platform stands to synergize our efforts and optimize use of our resources, towards extending the benefits of high-quality, appropriate, and safe diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine, and radiotherapy to all, as enshrined in goals for Universal Health Coverage.
